Ducks Quotes

I’ve always looked upon the Ducks as caricature human beings. Perhaps I’ve been years writing in that middle world that J.R.R. Tolkien describes, and never knew it.
If I think too much about all of those Chinese factories where all the stuff in a Wal-Mart is made, I get that woozy feeling you get when you see ducks covered in crude oil.
If it’s well written and well directed and you’ve got good actors to work with, acting is easy. But making sure all the ducks are in a row is the hard part. It’s very rare.

I get a lot of letters. Not only from children but from adults, too. Almost every week, every month, clippings come in from some part of the world where ducks are crossing the street.
There are no Rabbits in the north-west. This statement, far from final, is practically true today, but I saw plenty of Lynxes, and one cannot write of ducks without mentioning water.
I lived with them in my studio in New York. And of course if I were doing that book today or even ten years, fifteen years later, I would have gone to where the wild ducks were and where I could study them – I would have gone to the country somewhere.
